SNL Digital Short: Apocalypto (An SNL Movie Trailer Re-Cut)

Aired Dec 9, 2006 · 11:30 PM ET

This short, directed by Akiva Schaffer and written by Matt "Panther" Murray, is a satirical re-edit of the trailer for Mel Gibson's film Apocalypto. The parody adds humorous subtitles to the original footage, implying that the downfall of the Maya civilization was due to Jewish influence—a nod to controversies surrounding Gibson at the time.
