The main alternate ending for How I Met Your Mother removes the death of the Mother (Tracy) and concludes with her alive and well alongside Ted. In this version, the story ends as Ted finishes telling the tale of how he met Tracy, and the children thank her for "rescuing" them from his long story. It shows a more upbeat ending where Barney and Robin are happily married with children, and Ted and Tracy are a family, fulfilling the promise of the show's title.
